Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking software engineers to develop and maintain capabilities for CHAIN (C4ISR Holistic Analysis of Networks), a cloud-based DevSecOps platform based on Platform One’s Big Bang. CHAIN is designated by the DoD to become the standard C4ISR tool across the DoD IC. The CHAIN program is managed from NASIC at Wright-Patterson AFB, Dayton, OH. The program uses cloud-native technologies and aims to support modern warfighters and C4ISR analysts.
The position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications.
Responsibilities
Contribute to development and maintenance of CHAIN capabilities.
Work on cloud-based microservice applications and DevSecOps processes.
Collaborate with technical teams to deliver results in a DoD context.
Basic Qualifications – Software Engineer
One of the following:
High school diploma with at least 6 years of software development experience
Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of software development experience
Master’s degree with at least 0 years of software development experience
Full stack web development experience
Experience with Go, Java, or Python
Experience with web applications and front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, or Angular)
Interest in full stack development of cloud-based microservice applications
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Ability to prioritize and adapt tasks to achieve results
Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

Master’s degree with at least 3 years of software development experience

Experience with Go, Java, or Python
Experience with web applications and front-end frameworks (Vue.js, React, or Angular)
Interest in full stack development of cloud-based microservice applications
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with: Javascript, Typescript, Vue.js
NoSQL databases (ArangoDB, Dgraph)
Geospatial tech (GeoJSON, CesiumJS)
Go programming language
Gitlab, Istio, Grafana, Helm, Elastic
HTML/CSS/SCSS
Software security tools (Trivy, SonarQube)
Containerized development with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes
REST API design and development
Semantic knowledge graphs, ontologies, RDF triplestores
Tree data structures and traversal algorithms (DFS/BFS)
Experience with medium to large-scale cloud-based microservice apps
Knowledge of zero-trust security and PKI/X.509
DevOps experience or interest; CI/CD with GitLab Runners
Compensation and Benefits
Primary Level Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00
The salary ranges are guidelines; actual offers depend on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions. Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply. Benefits include health, life and disability insurance, 401(k), holidays, and paid time off.
