Push Boat Operator
in
Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The Push Boat Operator is the manager of the vessel including all attached barges and responsible for the crew’s adherence to all US Coast Guard regulations and company policies. The Push Boat Operator will navigate the vessel safely, oversee safety programs, comply with rules and regulations pertaining to the towing of vessels and protect the environment. The Push Boat Operator takes work assignments from the Construction Superintendent or Foreman. They are responsible for the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of their assigned area.
Employee’s key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Navigates in rivers or lakes by properly using steering controllers, throttles, short wave radios, depth finders, and other equipment for purposes of bridge construction. Uses radio communication and vision to navigate waterways, docks, locks, and other vessel traffic. Cleaning and maintenance of boat and tow; the loading, transport, and discharging of cargo. Adheres to company policies, US Coast Guard and environmental regulations. Smaller vessels perform routine engine room maintenance such as changing oil, checking oil, greasing, and changing fuel filters.
Employee’s qualifications: Knowledge and experience operating truckable push boats in a construction area on rivers or lakes. Steersman license preferred. Captain license not required for truckable push boats.
