Position: Project Engineer – Hydraulics & Hydrology

Job Summary Seeking a Project Engineer focused on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling to support land development and infrastructure projects. This role includes hands-on technical work, client coordination, and mentoring of junior staff across a variety of sectors including transportation, education, healthcare, and commercial.
Key Responsibilities Perform hydraulic modeling in HEC-RAS 1D (bridges/culverts); HEC-RAS 2D experience is a plus Model small culverts in HY-8 and perform hydrologic modeling using HEC-HMS Design and model storm sewer systems using OpenRoads Designer Drainage & Utilities (ORD DU) Prepare CLOMR/LOMR applications and coordinate with FEMA Conduct scour analysis and detention basin design Apply TxDOT, city, county, and FEMA design criteria Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables Mentor junior engineers and assist in hiring and staff development Write technical reports, proposals, and client-facing documentation Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders
Qualifications Bachelor’s in Civil or Environmental Engineering PE license and Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) 6+ years of relevant site/civil design experience Proficiency in stormwater management, H&H modeling, SWPPP, and Civil 3D Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills Familiarity with local land use regulations Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
