Fiberglass/Carbon Fiber Fabricator (Contract)

We are looking for an experienced technician to lead the fabrication of a custom fiberglass and carbon fiber structure. This is a hands-on role for someone who can design and build molds from scratch, shape materials by hand, and deliver a high-quality, durable exterior suitable for a working prototype. We value real work experience, a strong portfolio of work and a positive reputation/referrals from previous work experiences over resumes and certificates.
Responsibilities
Design and build the required molds for an exterior structure that needs to be both aesthetic and structurally sound
Recommend appropriate materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber, resins, core materials, finishes)
Hand-lay and laminate fiberglass/carbon fiber over molds.
Perform trimming, sanding, finishing, and bonding to achieve a clean, functional structure.
Ensure structural integrity, durability, and visual quality of the final product.
Perform final fastening with adhesives and mechanical fasteners of the structure
Collaborate with our engineering team on fit, tolerances, and integration points.
Qualifications
Proven experience in fiberglass and carbon fiber fabrication (portfolio or examples and strong recommendations required).
Strong knowledge of mold-making methods, composite materials, and layup techniques.
Skilled in hand tools, vacuum bagging, and manual fabrication (CNC experience is a plus)
Ability to work independently and deliver on a tight timeline onsite.
Detail-oriented and capable of producing a professional-grade finish.
