Senior Technical Designer

The Technical Designer is responsible for the transition of product from design concept to a production ready garment. Work to achieve desired design and fit while maintaining construction and quality standards. This role works alongside the Product and Brand Development team and reports to the Vice President of Brand Strategy.
Responsibilities Create and maintain tech packs. Pass fit comments, release tech packs, and communicate all revisions to factories. Build technical specifications including technical illustration, construction details/seam specification, measurement spec, and trim requirements. Lead Fit Sessions to ensure products meet standards for grade rules, fit consistency, construction, and quality. Communicate with factories to pass comments with clear and complete written and visual direction. Work to optimize garment for fit, performance, and cost. Review and approve color and trims. Develop and maintain sample storage organization for all development (including full samples, lab dips, strike-offs, etc.) and production samples Develop, organize, and maintain electronic files storage of all tech packs, development information, Product Briefs and Line Sheets. Measure all prototype, development, and preproduction garments. Communicate with overseas vendors for tech pack and sample development questions; Make appropriate recommendations in collaboration with Product and Brand Development on matters pertaining to specs, patterns, construction, and techniques to improve fit, balance, and overall quality of garments. Must be able to effectively problem solve design, costing, and quality. Collaborates with cross-functional team to meet calendar deliverables. Work to establish QC processes. Identifies opportunities for process enhancements. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in apparel industry or combination of college education and related work experience. 3-5 years’ work experience as a Technical Designer. Knowledge of menswear construction is preferred. In-depth knowledge of fabric, apparel, materials, construction and fit. Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office products. Ability to juggle several job responsibilities and learn new systems. Detail-oriented and organized. Ability to work independently. Team-Player.
