What you’ll be doing

• Drive a variety of route assignments to cover for vacations and absences at least 50% of the time.
• Provide outstanding customer service by helping to resolve problems and by accepting product returns as required.
• Transport products safely and deliver office supplies on your assigned route to customers; load vehicles as needed.
• Organize and load product for delivery using the manifest to assure the most efficient delivery route and schedule.
• Maintain safety as the utmost priority, ensure safe work practices, and foster a safety culture.
• Problem-solve for customers; provide customer support, accept product returns, and contribute to making customers\' day.
• Be the brand on wheels and play a critical role in Staples Supply Chain success as we deliver to customers.

What you bring to the table

• An ability to be a safe and courteous driver who can navigate a map and handle various weather and road conditions.
• An ability to make sound decisions related to driving, parking, safety, and customer interactions.
• Ability to learn and utilize software applications including Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
• Ability to use technology including GPS and mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices.

• Ability to bring new ideas that add efficiency and opportunities to grow the business.

• Ability and willingness to maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform pre-trip inspections, and report maintenance concerns.

Basic Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history acceptable to the company and be eligible to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable laws.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen (No THC) to the extent legally permissible.
• Must obtain a 6-month DOT medical card specific to the role.
• Basic English language skills (verbal and written).
• Full-Time associates must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; overtime may be required based on business need.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, push/pull items weighing up to 400 lbs with assistance, and occasionally maneuver up to 130 lbs.
• Must wear safety footwear (safety shoes).
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 1-year of truck driving experience (operating a 16ft or longer straight truck) or equivalent driving experience.
• High volume / small package delivery experience.
