Rare Editions is hiring: Technical Designer in New York

Star Children’s Dress Co. is a leader in designing and producing high-quality, stylish, and affordable apparel for kids and young adults. We pride ourselves on creativity, innovation, and attention to detail, and we’re looking for a skilled Technical Designer to join our growing team.

We are seeking a Technical Designer with 5+ years of experience i n the apparel industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction, fit, and specifications, with experience in Junior’s sizes highly preferred. This role requires someone who can work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring design concepts are translated into production-ready garments.

• Create and maintain detailed technical packages (tech packs), including construction details, garment measurements, and BOMs.
• Partner with design and production teams to ensure accurate execution from concept through final production.
• Conduct garment fittings, prepare fit comments, and communicate revisions to vendors and factories.
• Review samples to ensure quality, fit, and adherence to brand standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently with minimal oversight.
• Maintain consistency in grading, sizing, and quality across all product categories.
• Stay current with fabric trends, construction techniques, and market standards.

• 5+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry.
• Experience in Junior’s sizing strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, and PLM systems.
• Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and grading.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines independently.
• Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy and quality.
