Primary Responsibilities/***** Assists in the development of cell culture/viral and bacterial processes that are robust, scalable and economical for bioreactor, fermentation and purification platforms in the production of veterinary vaccines and therapeutics. Advocates for Manufacturing need to work on interdisciplinary teams and demonstrate a working knowledge of current GMP guidelines and advanced technical knowledge. Designs and performs simple to complex experimental studies to identify and optimise critical process parameters for the development of robust manufacturing processes for veterinary biological products. Creates approaches and develops solutions to assigned projects, new platform technologies, and existing processes. Facilitates product transfers from R&D and site to site. Participates and works with transfer team members to complete either “engineering runs” or validation batches to demonstrate that the developed processes meet Manufacturing standards Orders supplies, equipment parts, and reagents, prepares reagents and provides support for overall laboratory and pilot operations. Documents and prepares comprehensive, accurate and well-written project summaries and reports. Interacts routinely and effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, and Research.
***** Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Veterinary Science, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Protein Chemistry, Microbiology or Biotechnology 0-2 years of experience in animal health vaccine Research and Development, Process Development and/or Biological manufacturing or a closely related field Highly developed verbal and written communication skills Excellent documentation and writing skills Proven interpersonal skills to work independently and in a team environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to solving problems, inclusive of diverse perspectives (e.g. safety, environment, compliance)
***** Hands-on experience in working with cell and microbial cultures. Experience in sterile processes, including scale-up and growth of bench-top cell or microbial cultures and downstream processes (e.g purification, concentration). Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) standards.
