Job Description
Job Summary
The Security Guard is responsible for promoting and maintaining a secure campus environment. He/She provides for the
safety and welfare of students, faculty, and staff on the campus by monitoring, maintaining, and enforcing the rules,
regulations, and policies of the institution.
Key Responsibilities
I. Monitors and Maintains Campus Safety
• Ensure the institution is opened prior to the start of business daily
• Provides an escort for students, faculty, and staff upon request
• Conducts scheduled foot patrols of the institution’s interior
• Conducts scheduled foot patrols of the building’s exterior; to include parking lots and less traveled areas of
the campus
• Enforces institution rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to students, faculty, staff and visitors
while on school property
• Prepares written reports, such as daily logs and incident reports, relating to security and safety matters
• Monitors and maintains security cameras and equipment
II. Conducts Preventative Security Measures
• Conducts fire and lock down drills on a per term basis
• Creates campus identification cards for students, faculty, and staff utilizing established software
III. Follows Compliance Policy and Procedure
• Complies with all State, Department of Education and accreditation regulations
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures
Experience Required:
• Minimum:
− High School or GED equivalent
− 1 year of experience in law enforcement or related field
− Must pass background check
• Preferred:
− Associate’s Degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or similar field
− 3 years of experience as a security guard
