Project: Large-Scale U.S. Offshore Wind Development
Position Overview
- A major U.S. utility and renewable energy company is seeking a Marine Warranty Surveyor Project Manager to support a large-scale offshore wind project. This project involves the construction and installation of over 150 wind turbine generators, multiple offshore substations, and associated subsea cables and equipment.
- The Project Manager will report to the Manager, Site Construction – Offshore Wind and will work closely with the project’s Marine Warranty Surveyor. The role will oversee the day-to-day offshore work scopes, including the planning and installation of foundations (FOUs), transition pieces (TPs), wind turbine generators (WTGs), offshore substations (OSS), and inter-array/export cables.
- This position requires strong coordination with contractors, package managers, marine coordinators, and the Health & Safety team to ensure the safe, timely, and budget-compliant execution of project activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with the Marine Warranty Surveyor to oversee transport, storage, and installation activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, marine, and quality standards.
- Support Package Managers to ensure contractor compliance with installation and commissioning scopes of work.
- Ensure documents are submitted, reviewed, and approved in coordination with the Marine Warranty Surveyor.
- Collaborate with the Health & Safety Manager and Marine Warranty Surveyor to conduct inspections, audits, and emergency preparedness drills.
- Verify turnover documentation is completed per contract and made available to relevant stakeholders.
- Work with insurance and risk teams to ensure third-party technical reviews and approvals for high-value, high-risk marine construction activities.
- Participate in site walk-downs and prepare activity status reports.
- Review, prepare, and coordinate detailed construction schedules.
- Coordinate work across packages and contractors to proactively identify, escalate, and resolve potential issues before delays occur.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Minimum High School diploma required.
Experience:
- 10+ years in offshore construction or commissioning projects.
- 5+ years in offshore wind construction.
- Direct experience working offshore on vessels with Marine Warranty Surveyors and/or ECPI contractors.
- Previous experience serving as a Marine Warranty Surveyor for offshore construction.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong background in marine, mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Familiarity with marine safety systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, documents, and management reports.
Skills:
- Proven track record in construction contract administration.
- Strong leadership with ability to manage multiple work fronts.
- Effective conflict resolution and teamwork skills.
- Experience with site rules, permit-to-work, and compliance processes.
