Senior Accountant (retail/fashion) Job at The Greene Group in New York

Overview:

Our client is a rapidly growing fashion and lifestyle brand with retails locations across the country. This newly created role will take ownership of the month-end close, support inventory accounting, and drive financial reporting accuracy in a fast-paced NetSuite ERP environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain and reconcile inventory balances, including COGS, shrink, and inventory valuation adjustments
• Use NetSuite ERP to manage core accounting functions such as AP/AR, GL, and financial reporting
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and merchandising teams to ensure accurate inventory reporting and cost tracking
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and key performance indicators
• Create and maintain dashboards and reporting tools using Excel, Power Query, and Power BI to support decision-making
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards (GAAP)
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability of accounting operations

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or CPG environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA-track a plus)
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP is a big PLUS
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, including physical counts, costing, and reconciliation
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, index/match, lookups, macros); experience with Power Query and Power BI preferred
