Pay Rate: $25.45/hr. on W2 basis and without benefits Job Summary The Media Relations Manager serves as a key member of the Office of Communications, overseeing proactive and responsive media communications across four Divisions: Registry of Motor Vehicles, Aeronautics, Rail and Transit, and Highway. This role manages social media, press releases, media advisories, and supports event planning, including news conferences, public meetings, and open houses. The position requires a high degree of responsiveness, discretion, and efficiency, especially handling confidential information and managing communications in a fast-paced, high-profile public agency environment. Responsibilities

Oversee, create, and direct media communications using digital content, marketing materials, press releases, websites, and social media. Lead and execute public events, including news conferences, open houses, and public meetings, collaborating with office colleagues for successful, timely, and professional execution. Act as the spokesperson; proactively pitch stories statewide and respond promptly to media inquiries, public announcements, and breaking news. Manage internal and external messaging, ensuring compliance with strategic goals and brand consistency. Develop and produce promotional videos, marketing campaigns, and special projects that highlight organizational mission and programs. Write speeches, talking points, articles, and editorial pieces for publication in major newspapers and periodicals throughout the Commonwealth. Maintain and update website and social media content, ensuring timely and accurate information is available for public and internal stakeholders. Conduct research for reports and briefings; generate reports using diverse sources, search engines, and internal knowledge experts. Plan, prioritize, and delegate communications tasks to staff, providing guidance, support, and direct involvement when necessary to meet deadlines and objectives. Work closely with the Office of Marketing and Communications and all divisions to coordinate messaging and respond to inquiries. Frequently work weekends and holidays for urgent communications needs or last-minute announcements. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent experience. Proven management, planning, and delegation abilities in complex, fast-paced environments. Demonstrated expertise in media relations, digital marketing, and public communications. Experience managing internal/external messaging and branding across diverse platforms. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency with social media tools, web content management, and video production. Effective project management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines and coordinating staff. Ability to work irregular schedules, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in public sector or government communications. Prior spokesperson/media relations experience with proven success pitching stories. Familiarity with event planning and coordination in public or high-profile environments.
