Global Facilities & Real Estate Portfolio Lead
Location: Reporting into the C‑Suite, Global Headquarters (Montreal, QC) — with global oversight
Job Summary We are seeking a strategic, highly organized leader to take ownership of our global real estate and facilities portfolio. This newly established role will oversee the inventory, usage, and operational alignment of all facilities across all business units worldwide. The focus is on centralizing visibility, improving consistency, and connecting stakeholders—not negotiating contracts or managing construction projects.
Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain a
comprehensive global inventory
of all real property (leased and owned), including details such as location, size, usage, condition, capacity, costs, and occupancy Ensure real estate/facility data is accurate, integrated, and actionable for business planning, optimization, and budgeting Serve as the central point of contact across business units for all facility‑ and real estate‑related matters; facilitate collaboration and alignment of goals, standards, and policies Monitor and analyze space utilization, identify under‑ or over‑utilized assets, and recommend opportunities for optimization, consolidation, or expansion Establish and enforce global standards or guidelines for facility operations, health & safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory requirements Forecast future real estate needs in accordance with the company’s growth strategy; support planning for moves, scaling, or divestments Lead or coordinate a team (or regional leads) managing data, facilities operations, occupancy planning, maintenance oversight, and related services Develop, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for facilities and real estate; share insights with senior leadership Support risk assessment and continuity planning related to real estate (e.g., disaster preparedness, legal/regulatory risk, environmental risks)
What This Role Does Not Include Direct negotiation of real estate or lease contracts Direct construction management, large‑scale build‑outs, or renovation project execution
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Facilities Management, Business, Engineering or related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., IFMA, BOMA, PMP) a plus Significant experience (usually 8‑15+ years) in managing large real estate / facilities portfolios, preferably with global/multi‑region exposure Strong skillset in data management, occupancy analysis, forecasting, and financial acumen Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build consensus across business units Experience with regulatory, environmental, safety and compliance issues in real estate or facilities Comfortable working in environments of ambiguity; experience starting or defining new functions or processes
What Success Looks Like A clean, up‑to‑date, unified global inventory of assets that leadership trusts and uses in decision making Clear, shared standards & policies that business units adhere to, resulting in consistency and efficiency. Measurable improvements in space utilization, cost savings, or optimization of real‑estate assets Transparent, trusted reporting via KPIs that enables proactive decisions Business units collaborating more closely, minimizing duplication, overlaps or conflicting facility/real estate requests.
