Job Description As a Mechanical Assembler I, you'll play a critical role in supporting defense systems manufacturing operations by building precision cable assemblies that meet exacting quality standards. This position offers hands-on technical work in a collaborative environment where attention to detail and quality craftsmanship directly impact mission-critical defense systems.

Your day-to-day work will involve interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications to build, troubleshoot, and repair cable assemblies using specialized manufacturing tools. Working under limited supervision on the 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), you'll collaborate closely with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and fellow technicians to develop optimal assembly strategies and identify potential issues before they occur. This role exists to meet growing demand for precision cable assemblies supporting various defense system programs, and your work will directly contribute to the operational readiness of critical defense technologies.

Duties and Responsibilities Build, troubleshoot, and repair cable assemblies to exact specifications for defense system applications Operate specialized cable manufacturing tools including strippers, crimpers, and soldering irons Interpret and apply information from engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications Collaborate with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and technicians to develop assembly strategies and identify potential problems Perform basic troubleshooting to diagnose faults in signal and connectivity issues Conduct cable testing to ensure quality standards and functionality requirements are met Complete assigned tasks efficiently while working under limited supervision Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and safety protocols at all times

Required Experience/Skills High School diploma or GED required 1 to 3 years (or more) of hands-on experience with cable building and/or electrical/mechanical assembly Current certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum Current certification in J-STD-001 with Space Addendum Working knowledge of specialized tools and equipment used in cable assembly processes Ability to read, understand, and apply technical drawings, schematics, and specifications Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively with engineers and technicians U.S. Citizenship required Must possess (and be able to maintain) Final Secret Clearance OR meet eligibility requirements to obtain Secret Clearance Commitment to safety protocols and quality standards

Nice-to-Haves Experience in defense or aerospace manufacturing environments Proven track record in precision manufacturing with attention to detail Experience working second shift in manufacturing settings Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development Familiarity with defense industry quality standards and requirements

Education High School diploma or GED required
