As the Managing Director, Philanthropy, you’ll lead a team to support the development and execution of an annual fundraising strategy for SCAN’s Electoral work and the PAC division Policy and Advocacy work. You will partner with the agency’s Philanthropy and Partnership (P&P) division to build a robust pipeline and secure multi-year gifts from high net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations, with a focus on SCAN’s electoral campaigns and a balanced funding mix from various donor levels. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of SCAN, you will manage donor cultivation from research to proposal development to reporting and stewardship, and lead a fundraising department within SCAN. Hybrid – Washington DC, Fairfield, CT or Lexington, KY office locations. What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Team Leadership (25%) : Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff; communicate priorities; foster diversity, inclusion, and belonging; ensure collaboration across SCAN and SCUS; maintain relationships with relevant teams to support revenue goals. Support Cultivation of Current and Prospective Private Donors – 25% : Lead cultivation strategies for SCAN’s electoral work; develop cultivation strategies with the P&P division for policy and advocacy campaigns targeting high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations; oversee development of proposals and reports; prepare briefing materials and leadership for donor meetings; draft communications and ensure timely follow-up. Develop Fundraising Strategy for PAC and SCAN – 20% : Oversee strategy to meet private fundraising goals aligned with divisional plans; grow the peer-to-peer fundraising program; build monitoring systems; develop a fundraising plan for SCAN’s electoral work including board engagement. Serve as Key Liaison Across Save the Children – 20% : Advise leadership on fundraising goals and advocacy priorities; coordinate with P&P on strategy and high-dollar donor cultivation; foster internal collaboration for donor communications; work with finance to satisfy reporting expectations. Serve on SCAN’s Senior Management Team – 10% : Collaborate with SCAN and PAC leaders on priority projects; lead fundraising efforts as SMT. Required Qualifications For The Role
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 10 years of relevant experience. Strong experience leading diverse remote teams and developing a comprehensive fundraising plan. Experience leading fundraising for advocacy or electoral campaigns. Experience prospecting and cultivating foundation partnerships for advocacy campaigns. Ability to work productively both independently and in a cross-functional team. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office; professional English language skills (spoken and written). Preferred Qualifications For The Role
Experience in online advocacy fundraising. Success in grant writing and donor communications (e.g., LOIs, proposals, reports). Knowledge of customer relationship management databases (e.g., Blackbaud). Compensation Save the Children Action Network offers salary ranges dependent on location. For US-based candidates, ranges are provided below; salary ranges for roles outside the US will align with local scales. Actual base salary varies by experience, internal equity, and location.
