Chief Operating Officer (COO)
to be the firm’s Integrator — turning high-level ideas into operational success across multiple departments and locations.
Position Summary The COO is the firm's executive-level operational leader, responsible for translating strategy into execution and ensuring scalable, efficient, and high-performing operations. This role will oversee all non-legal business functions — including finance, HR, marketing, technology, client intake, and administration — while embedding structure, accountability, and clarity throughout the organization. You will serve as the steady hand that drives day-to-day excellence while helping guide long-term growth.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Execution & Leadership
Serve as the firm’s operational leader, driving alignment and execution across leadership teams.
Partner with the Managing Partner/CEO and senior leadership to translate vision into actionable plans, measurable goals, and department-level initiatives.
Lead firmwide initiatives in operations, performance improvement, and change management.
Operational Excellence
Oversee core administrative and business operations, including finance, HR, IT, client services, marketing, and facilities.
Implement scalable systems, automation, and repeatable processes to support firm growth.
Establish and track KPIs, scorecards, and departmental goals to drive accountability and data-informed decision-making.
Financial Management
Collaborate with the finance team to manage firm budgets, cash flow, forecasting, and P&L oversight.
Optimize pricing, profitability, and cost controls while supporting strategic investments and expansion.
Deliver financial and operational performance reports to leadership.
People & Culture
Lead cross-functional teams, department heads, and administrative staff to foster a culture of accountability, performance, and innovation.
Oversee recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and cultivate a healthy, growth-oriented workplace.
Technology & Innovation
Ensure secure and scalable IT systems and infrastructure.
Lead adoption of legal tech tools to improve efficiency, communication, and client delivery.
Stay ahead of industry trends and tech innovations that can strengthen firm operations.
Client Service & Compliance
Optimize the client intake and engagement experience, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and operational excellence.
Improve internal coordination and service delivery across all departments.
Monitor compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in operational areas.

Qualifications
10+ years of experience in operations leadership, preferably in a law firm, finance, or other high-performance service sector.
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving measurable improvements.
Strong knowledge of financial management, legal workflows, and professional services operations.
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA, JD, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
Familiarity with legal practice management tools (e.g., Clio, PracticePanther, NetDocuments).
