Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join our Construction Management team in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in electrical systems, particularly those who have worked with electrical subcontractors and understand the scope, means, and methods of electrical construction beyond a high-level perspective. We’re looking for someone who can deliver effective cost management services and support our clients across a diverse portfolio of commercial, data center, industrial, high-tech, and manufacturing building projects.
Responsibilities
Lead electrical estimating and cost planning efforts, including the production and presentation of final cost plans.
Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
Conduct feasibility studies and contribute to procurement strategy reports.
Manage all aspects of procurement: pre-qualification, bid analysis, bid reporting, and contract documentation.
Support post-contract cost control, including change management and cost variance analysis.
Perform cost checks and valuations on large-scale projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports to clients.
Provide input into value engineering and negotiate final accounts.
Maintain strong client and consultant relationships throughout all project phases.
Provide leadership and mentorship to junior cost management staff.
Identify and pursue opportunities for new business with existing clients.
Contribute to continuous improvement of cost management tools, templates, and procedures.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to ensure alignment between scope, budget, and schedule.
Review and validate subcontractor bids and scopes for completeness and accuracy.
Analyze historical cost data and market trends to support benchmarking and forecasting.
Participate in risk assessments and mitigation planning related to electrical systems and installations.
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Construction Management (with technical focus), Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical estimating and cost consulting.
Strong technical experience across all cost management phases: pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
Proven ability to prepare large, complex electrical cost estimates.
Industry experience across multiple sectors, especially data centers, high-tech, and manufacturing facilities.
Hands-on construction experience with electrical systems is required.
Experience working with electrical subcontractors, demonstrating deep understanding of scopes, means and methods, and project execution.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and related software.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
In-depth knowledge of construction procurement methods and contract structures.
Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
Familiarity with local codes, standards, and permitting processes related to electrical systems.
Business development experience and ability to identify growth opportunities.
SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Additional Information The salary range for this full-time role is $135K-$165K per year. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
