Velocity Tech has partnered with an innovative leader in enterprise search and AI-driven information retrieval to hire a
Head of Data Platform . This role is pivotal in shaping the company’s data platform strategy, scaling core infrastructure, and building a high-performing engineering team. You will lead efforts to design, develop, and deploy cutting-edge data and AI-driven systems that empower organizations with fast, secure, and intelligent access to information across industries. Responsibilities
Define and execute the roadmap for a scalable, secure, and resilient data platform. Drive architectural decisions around data pipelines, APIs, storage, and integrations for enterprise-scale solutions. Ensure best practices in data governance, security, and compliance. Team Building & Management
Build, lead, and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team (backend, frontend, and platform engineers). Oversee hiring, collaborating closely with both
agencies and internal recruitment teams
to attract and retain top talent. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Technical Excellence
Lead the design and development of robust backend systems, APIs, and services powering enterprise data solutions. Oversee frontend engineering efforts to ensure intuitive and performant user interfaces for enterprise clients. Work hands-on with technologies spanning
NLP, Generative AI, Python, Spark, and cloud platforms
to enable advanced search and retrieval capabilities. Scale infrastructure for high-volume, low-latency workloads, ensuring reliability and performance. Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with product, research, and engineering teams to align technical delivery with business goals. Engage with clients and stakeholders, understanding requirements and translating them into platform capabilities. Provide technical thought leadership and contribute to the overall data strategy. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or ML/AI systems. Proven experience
building and leading engineering teams , including responsibility for
hiring and scaling
through both internal and external recruitment channels. Expertise in
Python
and experience with large-scale
data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Databricks) . Strong background in
NLP/AI systems
and familiarity with
LLMs and Generative AI . Hands-on knowledge of cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at both technical and executive levels.
