Salary: $60,000/yr
Overall Responsibility
The Senior IT Specialist at Videon is responsible for implementing and maintaining technology infrastructure. Including effective IT planning and oversight of IT performance, AWS infrastructure management, managing computer and network systems, and ensuring backup and security systems operate effectively for Videons ~30-person environment.
Key areas of responsibility
- Define, implement and maintain overall IT services, procedures, and processes
- Direct daily operations of the IT department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines
- Develop computer information resources to provide data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery
- Manage Linux and Windows servers that host key services
- Manage M365 environment for user management and access control
- Manage Atlassian JIRA and Bitbucket
- Manage and optimize the companys AWS accounts, AWS spend, and ensure AWS security best practices are followed
- Manage building access control, and backup power systems
- Manage vulnerability scans & security reporting tools
- Oversee operational budget and expenditures
- Consult with users, management, vendors, and IT employees to assess computing needs and system requirements
- Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage the purchase of hardware and software products
- Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change
- Act as contact point for third party IT services
- Primary helpdesk point of contact
- Maintain company internal IT helpdesk articles
- Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices
Qualifications
- Computers and Electronics - knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
- Microsoft Active Directory experience - Understand the fundamentals of Active Directory and industry best practices
- Networking knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of networking systems including, but not limited to, managed switches, routers, and firewalls. Prior Unifi experience is a plus
- OS detailed knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Administration and Management knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
- Customer and Personal Service knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Skills
- Database Administration & SQL - to run backups and restore datasets
- Scripting - ability to write bash scripts for Linux server administration, or powershell scripts for Windows servers
- VMware & ESXi - virtual machine management and configuration
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services
- Troubleshooting - determining cause of operating errors
