Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Animal Control Customer Service Specialist (Part Time) in the Department of Community Development and Services. The consideration for hire list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year.

Under general supervision, performs specialized duties within the Animal Protection Section of the Community Development and Services Department, assists customers with requests and issues regarding City animal control services; and performs related duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE INFORMATION:

The training schedule will be Mondays and Tuesday, 7:15am to 5:15pm.**

Once training is completed, the incumbent's working schedule will be Sundays and Mondays, 7:15am to 5:15pm. **

**Schedule is subject to change at the department's discretion.

VACANCY INFORMATION:

This is a part-time, non-PERS eligible position.

This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, paid time off, wage increases, or union representation

This position requires enrollment in the City's Alternate Retirement Systems (ARS)

Work schedule will consist of an average of 19 hours/week. Hours per week may increase or decrease based on Department need

May be required to work a flexible work schedule, outside of normal business hours, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or extended hours

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or the equivalent

Two (2) years of experience performing general clerical or customer service duties involving direct contact with the public

Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered

Sufficient keyboarding skills of 25 net words per minute

Accrued at 9.5 hours per month after first year through fifth year; 12.67 hours per month sixth through twelfth year; 15.83 hours per month upon completion of twelfth year and beyond

SICK LEAVE

Accrued at 9.5 hours per month from date of hire

BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

Three consecutive days of leave, with pay, per occurrence, to attend funeral for immediate family member; increased to one work week when funeral is held 400 statute miles or more from City of Henderson

Uniform Allowance - $85.00 per month to employees required to wear a uniform, or $115.00 if required to wear fire retardant clothing
