About VRSI: VRSI is committed to aiding Military Veterans through the Department of Labor's Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP). We operate across 19 offices in the United States and provide vocational counseling, training, vocational evaluation, and direct employment services to eligible veterans, service members, and other individuals.

Position Overview

We are looking for a bright and motivated Accountant to join our corporate department. The Accountant will ensure all accounting needs from basic accounting to external audit requirements are met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The Accountant will work directly with the Executive Management team and other Administrative Assistants/Accountants.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining financial records and ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded
  • Reconciliating the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
  • Preparing, pulling, and tracking the Department of Labor drawdowns
  • Creating and maintaining budgets for all grants
  • Preparing financial statements
  • Ensuring that all grant budgeting and spending meet DOL, GAAP, and Audit guidelines in collaboration with the owner/program manager
  • Assisting in audit activities
  • Payroll and HR related items
  • Staying up to date on state and local tax laws
  • Handling sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Multitasking and prioritizing projects by importance or deadlines
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • At least two (2) years of related experience in accounting
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • QuickBooks and MS Office Suite experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Experience

  • CPA
  • Grant accounting
