The Accountant will be responsible for managing core accounting functions including accounts payable, bank reconciliations, construction draws, and payroll administration.

The role will also involve preparing financial reviews, updating accounting systems, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. This position requires a hands-on, organized professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and real estate operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare financial review packages and reports for leadership review.
  • Perform and maintain timely bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
  • Update and maintain accounting systems to reflect accurate, current financial data.
  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, approvals, and payments, including cutting checks, updating check register, and saving scanned copies.
  • Coordinate and process construction draw requests, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate, and preparation of Actual vs Budget reports.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accounting information is consistent and up-to-date.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Assist with special projects and reporting as needed by the Vice President of Finance, including improving/automating payrun process and check cutting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or related industries.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with Xero is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll, reconciliations, and construction draw processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset toward process improvement.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
