Overview

Montana Resources is currently recruiting for the position of Accountant. This position is responsible for professional level accounting work in the maintenance and review of fiscal records. The position requires considerable knowledge of basic accounting principles and accounting functions. This individual is responsible for the general ledger, bank reconciliations and fixed asset accounting. Additional responsibilities include performing monthly closings, maintenance of accounting files, and preparation/organization of various financial forms, reports, and financial analyses, etc. This individual may be asked to assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support tasks when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Handle and process all aspects of fixed asset accounting and capital expenditures.
  • Perform monthly close and related journal entries, using JD Edwards (JDE).
  • Prepare and review monthly cost activity to ensure proper coding and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of company financial reporting requirements.
  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records.
  • Reconcile and maintain the general ledger; perform bank reconciliations as required.
  • Review and ensure proper coding of cost activity.
  • Investigate discrepancies and questionable data; recommend corrective actions.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and general office support as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required, CPA is a plus (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Two years or more years of accounting experience, preferable in the mining or construction industry
  • Experience with integrated accounting systems, JD Edwards (JDE) is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications, specifically Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems, keeping all appropriate parties aware of issues or risks.
  • Work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills
  • Have a strong work ethic.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
