The opportunity includes maintaining the general ledger in accordance with GAAP, coordinating the monthly close, reconciling account balances, and supporting monthly financial reporting and audits. The Senior Accountant will assist the Corporate Controller as needed and respond to information requests from management and for auditing purposes.
Location and work model: Moorseville, IN, with hybrid work arrangements; 3-4 days in office.
Responsibilities
- Perform mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, identify and correct errors made by internal and external personnel.
- Monitor policies and procedures for assigned departments; identify and suggest improvements for accounting reporting and recording procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
- Participate in ongoing education through webinars and workshops.
- Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and maintenance of operational management accounts.
- Assist in providing schedules and commentary related to results and variances, and in producing financial reports with applicable commentary.
- Assist in inventory/cost accounting and revenue recognition functions.
- Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.
- Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance.
- 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently; ability to collaborate across functions.
- Strong financial and general ledger accounting knowledge; strong analytical skills.
- Ethical conduct and technical capacity.
