Overview: The Security Guard supports safety and security of clients, visitors, property and staff, and assists with reception duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required.
• Patrol assigned areas to protect clients, visitors, property, and equipment.
• Control and monitor access ingress and egress; monitor burglar and fire alarm systems as required.
• Manage program parking location, alert to unauthorized use, and coordinate with towing contractors.
• Inspect doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; use agency keys to open/close buildings; monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons or suspicious activity.
• Inform and warn violators of rule infractions (e.g., loitering, smoking, carrying forbidden articles).
• Identify irregularities such as security breaches or safety hazards; contact emergency responders as required.
• Remain alert for unauthorized persons or security code violators; approach suspicious persons and/or notify police as appropriate; detain violators as required until police arrive.
• Provide backup to the receptionist, directing calls and greeting visitors in the reception area.
• Participate in staff and department meetings as required.
• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through reading, workshops, and conferences.
• Support the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan; contribute to core competencies including collaboration, innovation, and cultural diversity.
• Participate in relevant Agency meetings and trainings; pursue professional development to improve job performance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Credentials: NY State Security Guard Registration required. Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard.
• Physical Demands/Work Environment: The role may require sitting, standing, walking, and light lifting. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The work environment is typically quiet.
• Compliance: Adheres to applicable federal and state laws and regulations, including confidentiality, privacy, program, billing, and documentation standards. All duties must be performed in accordance with the organization’s compliance program.
• Additional Requirements: Ability to prioritize assignments, work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate teamwork. Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is preferred.
