Background:
The HR Generalist will support the IL Operations team in executing HR strategies that align with and enable business objectives. This role is responsible for the operational and tactical aspects of Human Resources, with a focus on the acquisition, development, and retention of talent.
The HR Generalist will perform duties at the professional level in several functional areas, including employee relations, training, employee communications and engagement, performance management, recruitment and staffing, compliance, and payroll and benefits administration. The role is expected to drive business results by delivering measurable HR outcomes while also administering established HR processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- General HR & Employee Relations. Partner with managers and employees to proactively address performance concerns and disciplinary matters while minimizing company risk.
- Conduct exit interviews, manage employment verifications, and maintain accurate employee files.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee inquiries, providing timely and accurate information. Support annual open enrollment, assist employees with benefits-related questions. Ensure payroll and benefits data is entered accurately and maintained in ADP Workforce Now, and support compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Support the performance review process and assist managers in interpreting and applying company policies consistently.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Engage with hiring managers to drive staffing plans. Conduct and continuously improve new hire onboarding meetings and employee experience.
- Reporting: Utilize and maintain ADP Workforce Now to generate, analyze, and optimize HR reports. Ensure the system is effectively leveraged across all HR functions, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, and more.
- Employee Leave Management: Manage FMLA, Disability, and ADA cases from intake to resolution, proactively monitoring progress and mitigating risk. Assist with workers’ compensation claims.
- Compliance: Ensure labor law posters are current and posted appropriately. Conduct job analyses for FLSA and compliant job descriptions. Stay current with compliance requirements and send notices as needed.
- Maintain a working knowledge of current HR trends, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned to support the needs of the department and organization.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years Human Resources Generalist experience working in a manufacturing/corporate environment preferred.
- Proven experience of working in an HR role and in a confidential environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills. Able to synthesize and communicate complicated information to all audiences.
- HR skills: Knowledge of and ability to conduct research on federal and state labor and wage laws, record retention, and other essential compliance issues required.
- Experience in using electronic HRIS systems required, ADP Workforce now preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office products, including Excel skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
