Vacation Replacement Cleaners will provide vacation coverage in our Midtown properties from approximately February 15 to December 31, 2025. Please note this position has a limited term of five months with the opportunity for long-term retention based on business needs and performance evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Provide superior customer service to building tenants and guests and maintain a positive experience.
- Ensure that designated areas are always clean and well organized.
- Light Duty Responsibilities:
- Empty wastebaskets and damp wipe as needed; collect rubbish for removal.
- Dust and wipe furniture, equipment, telephones, and windowsills; dust baseboards, chair rails, picture frames, and doors within reach.
- Remove finger marks and smudges from interior doors, light switches, door frames and interior glass (excluding windows).
- Vacuum carpeted areas; sweep and/or damp mop hard floor surfaces nightly.
- Dust doors and ventilating louvers within reach; maintain janitor closet and equipment cleanliness.
- Turn off lights and secure doors as scheduled when cleaning is complete.
- Report any malfunctions to the supervisor; perform light physical labor as needed.
- Operate freight car, freight elevator, and heavy/specialized equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow supervisor work directions and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Use hands for grasping and fine manipulation; bend, squat, crawl, lift, and reach; lift up to 75 pounds as required.
- Operate tools and equipment related to custodial work and move items as directed.
- Operate freight elevator and ensure floors and lobbies are swept and mopped; dispose of rubbish properly.
- Follow all safety and tenant-specific requests; contact supervisor for items not understood.
Pantry Maintenance: clean all surfaces; clean microwave and refrigerator if directed; sweep and damp mop floors.
Clean Lavatories: empty waste receptacles, disinfect fixtures, replenish soap/paper, and wash floors with approved disinfectant.
Machine scrub floors, rinse, apply floor finish, and maintain clean hard floor surfaces; avoid splashing solution on walls, doors, and furniture.
Note: Special care must be taken not to splash solution on walls, doors and furniture.
Operate freight elevator, remove rubbish from freight elevator lobbies, and ensure floors are swept and mopped; dispose of rubbish in designated containers.
Qualifications
- Prior office cleaning experience or similar environment
- Ability to operate tools and equipment used in general custodial work
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines; follow supervisor directions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to follow tenant requests and work cooperatively with others
- Observe health and safety regulations
- Ability to use a two-way radio to receive assignments and report progress
- Work is performed while standing and/or walking
- Requires use of hands for grasping and fine manipulation; bending, squatting, crawling, lifting and reaching
- May involve being around moving machinery, exposure to temperature changes, and exposure to dust and chemical fumes
