Coatings Chemist

Kelly Science & Clinical is currently seeking candidates for a Direct Hire Formulation Chemist at a coatings company in NW Houston. The overall responsibility of this role is to formulate coatings technologies to support the needs of the company’s customers. Job ***** Collaborate with other R&D team members to formulate coatings based on established guidelines Perform benchwork to include formulating samples, evaluating their performance, and making necessary adjustments to meet customer needs Interpret test results and prepare reports and presentations for both internal and external customers Assist with field trials of new products in addition to the scale-up of products from laboratory to production Troubleshoot customer problems in the areas of appearance, workability, color, and performance Research and evaluate alternative and backup raw materials Monitor current literature, trends, and patent activity on coating technology

Job *****

BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related discipline 3-7 years of experience as a Chemist in coatings development and supporting a manufacturing facility Formulation experience of Epoxy and Urethane coatings is preferred Ability to manage priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines Problem analysis and resolution experience Oral and written communication skills including formal presentations
