The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for managing procurement and supply chain planning activities to ensure a reliable flow of materials that support manufacturing operations. This role balances strategic sourcing with hands-on scheduling, driving supplier performance, optimizing inventory, and supporting cost, quality, and delivery objectives. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Supplier Management Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers for raw materials, components, and services. Monitor supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost competitiveness. Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships, resolving supply issues proactively. Lead cost reduction initiatives and support long-term sourcing strategies. Planning & Scheduling Plan and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production while minimizing excess/obsolete stock. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to align materials availability with manufacturing demand. Analyze MRP (Material Requirements Planning) outputs to identify risks, shortages, and capacity constraints. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with engineering and new product introduction (NPI) teams to source components for prototypes and production ramp-up. Support quality assurance in resolving supplier non-conformances and implementing corrective actions. Work closely with finance to ensure accurate cost tracking, budget alignment, and timely invoice resolution. Continuous Improvement Drive process improvements in procurement, planning, and inventory management. Implement best practices in forecasting, supplier management, and supply chain risk mitigation. Contribute to ERP/MRP system improvements and data integrity. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3–5+ years of procurement and planning experience in a manufacturing environment (medical device, electronics, aerospace, or industrial preferred). Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, purchasing processes, and production planning. Demonstrated success in supplier negotiations, cost savings, and vendor performance management. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities across all levels of the organization. APICS/CPIM or CPSM certification a plus.
