Role and Responsibilities

Growing Metal framing, Drywall, and Acoustical ceiling contractor is seeking a skilled Senior Estimator to execute the bidding process by completing take-offs, creating material lists, collecting material prices, and preparing cost estimates with budgets for construction projects. Review job budget and any changes with superintendents weekly.

This position determines the necessary resources for projects based on take-offs, cost estimates, and budgetary constraints. Establishes material and guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Estimates costs of projects by gathering details and compiling data according to specifications.

Attends proposed project site visits/assessments and Job site meetings.

Performs material quantity takeoffs and bid preparation.

Prepares cost estimates and bid documents for construction projects or services that are reviewed by management before proposal submission.

Obtains comparative quotations for materials and subcontractor services, as required.

Prepare job-specific Submittals.

Compares subcontractor proposals with required project scope and determines completion.

Assembles bid files including development and safety information.

Develops appropriate contingencies for projects.

Reads and understands all job specific specifications and conditions.

Create and manage bid calendar and follow up on bids.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

8-10 years construction and construction estimating experience.

Must be knowledgeable of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry.

Experience with Plan Swift, PlanHub, and/or other estimating software.

Experience with Procore, Buildertrend, and/or other project management software.

Ability to read construction blueprints, architectural plans, assemblies, and specifications.

Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications

Engineering - practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various structures.

Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, and commercial structures.

Knowledge of wall assemblies, fire ratings, and applicable building codes

Understanding of framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling specific installation

Associate or bachelors degree preferred.
