Job Title: Safety Performance Engineer # JP00313251 Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Job Summary: The Safety Performance Engineer will lead safety development activities for assigned vehicle programs, ensuring all functional safety objectives are met. This includes supporting impact script development, identifying design enablers, and executing component and full-vehicle test plans.
Key Responsibilities: Lead safety development efforts, including target setting and execution of crash regulatory and third-party rating test plans. Manage vehicle integration and validation by owning safety performance metrics, leading attribute teams, and supporting tech clubs. Analyze vehicle issues , identify root causes, document findings, and drive resolution across disciplines. Oversee physical and component testing , including planning, vehicle builds, and coordination with CAE for virtual validation. Support all phases of development from concept through launch. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and maintain strong technical and organizational communication.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent) program Minimum 3 years of vehicle development experience, including 1 year in safety development Experience with virtual analysis and physical testing Strong understanding of global crash regulations and 3rd-party safety requirements Proven ability to work with teams across Durability, NVH, Aero, and Safety Strategic thinker with leadership qualities and excellent communication skills Skilled in presenting results and recommendations clearly and effectively
