JOB DESCRIPTION The Houseperson provides support to the housekeeping team by ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are properly stocked, organized, and maintained. This role plays a vital part in supporting the room attendants, laundry attendants, and housekeeping leaders in a timely and efficient manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver clean linens, towels, amenities, and supplies to guest rooms and housekeeping carts. Remove soiled linens, trash, and guest room items as directed. Assist room attendants with heavy or large items, such as luggage or furniture. Maintain housekeeping carts, storage areas, and supply rooms in a neat and organized manner. Ensure guest floors, corridors, and service areas are free of obstacles and hazards. Restock housekeeping closets with necessary cleaning supplies, linens, and amenities. Assist in cleaning public areas, back-of-house spaces, or other areas as needed. Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the housekeeping supervisor promptly. Support special projects such as deep cleaning, room setup for VIPs, or hotel events. Wash and polish water glasses for guest rooms.
REQUIREMENTS 6 months + housekeeping experience in a hotel environment preferred. Must be able to verbally communicate clearly with guests and fellow employees. Must be able to make appropriate judgements relative to the process of cleaning guest rooms. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
HOURS Due to the business demands of the hospitality industry, and the fact that the hotel provides guest services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year- any employee may be required to work rotating shifts, including weekends, night shifts, and/or overtime. Also, depending on business demands, hours may be reduced at any time.
