POSITION TITLE: Inventory Specialist DEPARTMENT: Tobacco Outlet LOCATION: Ridgefield, WA (ON SITE) REPORTS TO: Tobacco Outlet General Manager FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt, fulltime SALARY RANGE: $24.00 - 27.60 per hour Closing Date: October 7, 2025 ***If you are an American Indian/Alaska Native and/or a Veteran and would like this to be considered preference in hiring, please upload documentation with your resume and cover letter. Acceptable documentation includes a Tribal Enrollment card, a letter from your Tribe stating your enrollment, or BIA 4432 and/or DD214.*** Position Summary: Ensures effective inventory management and maintains accurate records including count, cost, and retail pricing of each item in the Tobacco Outlet. Creates an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Honors and represents the mission, vision, values of CIT and Tobacco Store outlets.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Receives and counts all retail items accurately and in a timely manner; monitors inventory pare levels daily to minimize out-of-stock merchandise and supplies. Enters data for quantities of inventory and cycle count adjustments into computer database. Receives orders to ensure that only items ordered are received and excess inventory is returned to vendor. Troubleshoots quantity discrepancies with manufacturing and staff. Confirms dates of all dated items to ensure first-in-first-out rotation of retail items. Assists with stocking shelves, coolers, and all store items as needed. Establishes monthly inventory counts and participates in inventory process Utilizes inventory tracking systems and generates reports to ensure accuracy of completed inventory counts. Verifies that all items on the retail floor have accurate pricing and labels that mirror the inventory tracking system and point-of-sale terminal. Records, tracks, and ensures timely delivery of store credits with vendors. Enters UPCs for new items in the store. Walks the store daily to ensure site and physical appearance standards are maintained. Completes quarterly reports for all items in the store to ensure product pricing and margin standards are met. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of traditional form of government and tribal customs and traditions. Knowledge of tobacco products. Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic. Skill in treating internal and external customers with tact, courtesy, and respect. Skill in focusing on detail and tracking data accurately. Skill in using hand trucks and dollies. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise independent judgment.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. One (1) year of high-volume retail experience. One (1) year of experience in an inventory control or similar setting. Must be able to successfully pass a background screening / investigation according to the established requirements below.
Tribal preference in accordance with Cowlitz Indian Tribe Code and CIT Employee Policies and Procedures Handbook shall apply to all positions. All positions are required to adhere to CIT’s established safety policies regarding vaccine requirements and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Background Investigation Requirements: Pre-employment drug screen. Reference checks, education and employment verification. Federal, state, and/or tribal criminal history checks.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands or arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and clarity of vision at long distance.
Work Environment: Work is generally performed indoors in a retail setting where employee may have frequent contact with the public. Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles and secondhand smoke. Employee is required to stand for eight or more hours. Extended work hours including evenings, holidays and weekends is required. Occasional exposure to excessive noise. Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common
