Position: RN – LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)

Shift: 12-hour Nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

Unit Details

• Unit: Family Birthing Center (OB / L&D / PP, couplet care)
• Beds:
  • 10 L&D beds
  • 2 C-section OR suites
  • 3 triage beds
  • 3 OB-ED/antepartum testing beds (overflow)
  • 12 postpartum beds
• Birth Volume: 100–150 births per month
• Ratios:
  • 1:3–4 couplets
  • L&D 1:1 to 1:2
  • Antepartum 1:1–3
• EFM System: GE Corometric monitors – Fetalink surveillance

Requirements

• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (STABLE preferred)

• Experience: Must have strong LDRP background, including:

  • Circulating C-sections (all RNs required to do this)
  • High-risk patients (preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, hypertensive disorders, C-sections)
  • Ability to “catch the baby” (NRP role) – must confirm at submission
  • Reading/interpreting EKG strips (moms in PACU)
  • Titrating drips (e.g., Pitocin)

Staffing & Support

• Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Yes – usually does not take patients, may provide break relief
• OB surgical techs: Yes
• OB/Neonatologist: In-house 24/7
• OB hospitalist: In-house 24/7
• Anesthesia: In-house 24/7
• RT: Available 24/7 (no vents on this unit)

Scheduling / Call / Float

• Shift Start: 6:45 PM bedside report
• Call: Possible; 30-minute response time required
• Floating: To other Sacramento facilities as needed; mid-shift floats rare; no in-house floating
• Scrubs: Provided
