Insight Global is seeking a Microwave Telecommunications Technician to join our client in a long-term contract opportunity. The primary goal of the Technician is to provide installation and maintenance support for the client's telecommunications infrastructure microwave radio systems, transport routers, single mode fiber optic cable, and DC power systems. This equipment is located in the Company's Virginia and North Carolina service territories. In addition to "normal" daily work, this position will be part of a team that provides 24x7 field support, at the direction of the Network Operations Center (NOC), for communication outages.
Qualifying Skills/Experience:
Strong background in the installation, troubleshooting and testing of microwave radio systems to include proven knowledge of and hands on experience with elliptical waveguides, microwave antennas, and the necessary grounding for each component.
Experience with long haul microwave installations (over 30 miles)
Experience with both microwave software and hardware testing tools. Must be able to interrogate different types of equipment and must have a good understanding of legacy devices. Looking for someone with a broad range of exposure to microwave set ups
Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with single mode fiber optic cable, and installation best practices.
Proven skill in the installation of telecommunications equipment including running power leads, installing fuse panels, cable management, fiber management, cable terminations, and grounding
Strong understanding of DC power
HS Diploma/GED
Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with single mode fiber optic cable, and installation best practices.
Skilled in single mode fiber testing with a light meter and OTDR.
Skilled in the installation of telecommunications equipment including running power leads, installing fuse panels, cable management, fiber management, cable terminations, and grounding.
Skilled in the support, installation, and testing of microwave radio systems, elliptical waveguide, microwave antennas, and the necessary grounding for each component.
Knowledge of grounding practices for communication buildings and antenna support structures.
Working knowledge of 48v DC power systems is required.
Detailed knowledge and hands on experience with DWDM and MPLS equipment.
Compensation Target: $30-40/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
