COMMUNICATIONS OFFICERS The Buckingham County Sheriff's Office is actively seeking dedicated and qualified individuals to join their team as Communications Officers. This crucial role involves serving as a vital link in emergency and non-emergency situations, ensuring public safety and efficient communication within the community. Position Overview: As a Communications Officer, you will be integral to the smooth operation requiring a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Responsibilities: Manage incoming inquiries from the Sheriff's Office. Verify and process various legal documents Maintain accurate and confidential records. Contribute to a positive and efficient working environment within the Sheriff's Office

Responsibilities: Emergency Call Management:

Receive and prioritize incoming 911 and non-emergency calls, calmly and effectively gathering critical information from callers who may be distressed, panicked, or in danger. Resource Dispatch:

Efficiently dispatch appropriate emergency units (police, fire, EMS, animal control, etc.) based on the nature and severity of the incident, providing precise location details, situation updates, and pre-arrival instructions to callers as needed. System Operation & Monitoring:

Operate multi-line telephone systems, two-way radios, and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems to manage calls, track unit status, and maintain accurate records of all communications and dispatches. Monitor multiple security cameras and other alarm systems, reporting unusual occurrences or incidents. Information Relay & Coordination:

Act as a central hub of communication, relaying crucial information between field units, other agencies, and the public, coordinating mutual aid incidents and ensuring synchronized responses. Requirements: Successful completion of a background check and drug screening. Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to work effectively in varying weather conditions, as required by the role's potential duties. Availability to work power shift positions from 10 AM to 10 PM, along with the flexibility to fill in for other shifts as needed. Mandatory weekend and holiday availability. Commitment to a 12-hour shift schedule, working 7 days every two weeks. Compensation & Benefits: Starting salary of $39,000 for uncertified individuals and $40,000 for certified professionals. A generous benefits package is provided to all employees.
