General Description
Sound Biologics , an innovative and growing biotechnology company in the Greater Seattle area, is seeking a
Scientist or Senior Scientist
to join our
BioPharmaceutical Sciences
team. You will collaborate with a dynamic group of experienced, passionate scientists in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment. Our team is committed to developing advanced technologies and therapeutic platforms to drive the next generation of antibody-based treatments targeting cancer, autoimmune, and neurodegenerative diseases. We are driven by a mission to improve patient outcomes while reducing the cost of biotherapeutics. In this role, you will focus on
developability assessment and optimization
of therapeutic candidates. Your responsibilities will include experimental design, hands-on lab work, and advanced data analysis. You’ll work closely with colleagues in Protein Engineering and Biology, as well as with external collaborators.
Qualifications Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline 0–5 years of postdoctoral or industry experience in mass spectrometry and protein/peptide characterization Proficiency with analytical separation tools such as HPLC, CE-SDS, and iCIEF Experience in protein modeling or in silico analysis. Familiarity with AI-guided protein modeling platforms such as AlphaFold, RFdiffusion, and MPNN is considered a strong plus. Demonstrated success working on cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to design and execute experiments that meet characterization and development goals Strong organizational and time-management skills; adaptable to shifting priorities Passion for innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
Responsibilities Develop and apply
mass spectrometry-based strategies
to support characterization of large molecules (e.g., monoclonal antibodies, bispecifics, fusion proteins, ADCs) Conduct in-depth protein characterization, including: Intact mass analysis Identification of post-translational modifications (PTMs) Disulfide bond mapping Glycosylation profiling Structural variant analysis (e.g., IdeS-MS) Use
bioinformatics and AI based tools
to support protein engineering work on improving affinity, specificity, stability, and manufacturability of therapeutic protein and antibodies. Perform analytical testing (HPLC, CE-SDS, iCIEF) to support drug discovery and development workflows including expression, purification, and PK studies Summarize and present findings clearly to internal stakeholders and external partners to support informed program decisions
Working Conditions Lab-based role with potential exposure to biological materials May require occasional extended or flexible hours Physical requirements include: Standing or sitting for extended periods Repetitive tasks Lifting up to 20 lbs regularly; occasionally more
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
$100,000 – $140,000 per year (based on qualifications and experience) Additional benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance (employee & dependents) 401(k) plan with company match Equity grant eligibility Annual performance-based bonus 20 days of PTO per year (accrued monthly) 9 paid company holidays
