Position Summary:The CNC Machinist Programmer Mill & Lathe is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and mills to produce precision components to exacting specifications. This role demands expertise in both turning and milling operations, the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, and a strong commitment to quality in a regulated defense manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities:Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and mills, including multi-axis and live-tooling machinesGenerate and optimize CNC programs using CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX)Interpret detailed blueprints, 3D CAD models, and apply GD&T principlesSelect tools, set machine offsets, and conduct test runs to ensure accuracyMachine a variety of metals including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and exotic alloysCollaborate with engineering and QA teams to ensure manufacturability and compliancePerform first article and in-process inspections using precision measuring instrumentsTroubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvementsEnsure adherence to AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and other applicable defense regulationsMaintain machine cleanliness, tool inventories, and preventive maintenance schedulesRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or associate degree preferredMinimum 5 years of CNC programming and hands-on machining experience (lathe and mill)Proficient in G-code and M-code programmingExpertise in CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, GibbsCAM, or similar)Proficient with manual and digital inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM)Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical/engineering drawings and GD&TStrong knowledge of aerospace/defense material properties and cutting parametersU.S. Citizenship required due to government contract workAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Experience with 4- and 5-axis machining, live tooling lathes, and Swiss-style turningExperience working in an AS9100, ISO 9001, or ITAR-compliant facilityFamiliarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Epicor, or similar)
