Summary:
The City of Lawrence is looking for a skilled Electrician to join our Facilities Maintenance team! This journey-level position plays a key role in keeping our buildings, grounds, parking areas, and landscapes safe, functional, and efficient.

Responsibilities:
This is a journey-level position responsible for performing a range of maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction tasks across city facilities and structures. The role focuses primarily on electrical maintenance and repair work for assigned buildings, as well as surrounding areas such as parking lots and landscaped grounds. As a member of the Facilities Maintenance team, the Electrician may also assist with other trades and general maintenance tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
High School diploma/GED required with additional training in electrical theory, commercial wiring and National Electric Code (NEC).

Candidates must meet one (1) of the following criteria:

  • At least four (4) years of relevant electrical experience with the requirement of obtaining a journey level license within 24 months
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience with a valid Journeyman license in Lawrence, Kansas
  • A passing score on a qualifying exam as outlined by Planning and Development Services licensing requirements


Must have possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Kansas driver's license. The successful candidate must pass a background check, city physical and drug screen.
