Patent Agent or Junior/Mid-Level Intellectual Property Associate (Biomedical Eng/Material Chemist) Base pay range

Their clients extend across the US and many foreign countries and include Fortune 500 companies, public and private companies, PE/VC firms, financial institutions and wealthy individuals. This job description reflects roles for both Level I/II patent agents and 1st–4th year associates with strong technical backgrounds in biomedical engineering or materials science. Responsibilities
Drafting patent applications. Prosecuting US patent applications (including replies to Office actions, examiner interviews, and appeals to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board) and directing worldwide prosecution. Conducting freedom-to-operate searches and analyses. Conducting IP landscape analyses. Conducting IP due diligence in the context of asset purchases or securities offerings. Conducting invalidity and non-infringement analyses. Counseling clients on prosecution strategy. Monitoring competitor patent activity and filing observations at the USPTO. Assisting with contested proceedings at the USPTO (e.g., inter partes review, post-grant review) or in US district court. Assisting with IP-related agreements (e.g., licenses, research collaborations, research services). Qualifications
Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred; or master’s degree with substantial industry experience) with a strong technical background in biomedical engineering or materials science. Experience in medical devices, diagnostics, bio/medical software, AI applications, and materials science related to battery technology or inorganic chemistry is desirable. 3–6 years of experience as a patent agent or patent associate. Prior firm experience and registration with the USPTO. Excellent academic record and strong organizational and communication skills (written and oral). Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service and an entrepreneurial perspective on IP. Experience in litigation and/or post-grant proceedings is a plus. Schedule The firm operates with a hybrid model requiring in-office presence at least four days per week. This may change based on firm, department, and client needs and will be routinely evaluated.
