My client is a next-generation tax and advisory practice embedded within a cutting-edge AI company based in the Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Area. Their mission is to redefine the accounting experience through smart automation with AI at the core. They are not just using AI but building it. This position will allow you to work hand-in-hand with engineers and product teams to design tools that automate, optimize, and elevate the client experience.
The Tax Senior Manager will lead complex tax engagements, manage key client relationships, and collaborate closely with internal technology teams to develop and refine AI-powered tools and processes. This role is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who is equally comfortable advising clients and driving innovation through cross-functional collaboration.
Base pay range $180,000.00/yr - $210,000.00/yr

Serve as the primary advisor for high-value clients, delivering strategic tax planning and compliance services. Oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, trusts, and estates. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and implement technology solutions that enhance tax workflows and client experience. Mentor and lead a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Monitor changes in tax legislation and proactively advise clients on implications and opportunities. Identify and pursue opportunities to expand client services and contribute to the growth of the practice. Core Tax Areas & Forms The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise across a broad range of tax domains, including: Individual Taxation Corporate Taxation Form 1120 (C Corporations), Form 1120-S (S Corporations), Schedule M-3 Partnership Taxation Form 1065, Schedule K-1 Form 1041, Schedule K-1 International Tax Compliance Forms 5471, 8865, 8938, and FinCEN Form 114 (FBAR) State & Local Tax (SALT) Payroll & Employment Tax Forms 941, W-2, W-3, 1099 series Entity structuring, M&A tax strategy, estate and gift tax planning Required Qualifications
CPA or EA designation (required) Minimum of 10 years of experience in public accounting or tax advisory Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations Proven leadership experience, including team management and client relationship development Proficiency in tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Axcess Tax, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills Seniority level
