We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Progressive Care Nurse to join our healthcare team for 12 hour Nights in Rapid City, SD. Beds: 36-48

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, particularly in progressive and critical care settings. This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions. The Progressive Care Nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes, utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge.

Duties

  • Assess and monitor patients’ conditions, including vital signs and overall health status.
  • Diagnoses include, but are not limited to: DKA requiring insulin drips, Pre/post-surgical patients, cellulitis, influenza, UTIs, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, renal failure with or without the need for hemodialysis, hepatic failure, gastrointestinal disorders and infections, soft tissue injury and minor fractures, and DVTs. CVA overflow possible.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment options and health management.
  • Perform advanced nursing procedures such as IV infusion, suturing, catheterization, and airway management.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in discharge planning and case management for continuity of care.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care standards.

Skills and requirements
The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Epic charting
  • 1 year of experience
  • First time travelers must have EPIC experience
  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • 100 mile radius rule in place
  • Ability to work EOW
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation
  • Experience in acute pain management, infection control, and medication administration
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Strong communication skills for effective patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Be willing to float to Med Surg, MS/Tele, Long Length, and ONS if needed
  • Experience preferred with the following Heparin, Insulin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Levophed (up to 5 mcg), occasionally esmolol drips or other Betablockers or other antihypertensives
