We are seeking an experienced
Commercial Real Estate Underwriter
to join our growing team. The Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating, structuring, and presenting loan opportunities across multiple asset classes, ensuring that transactions are appropriately assessed for risk and aligned with firm guidelines. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze loan requests, including property financials, sponsor data, market conditions, and collateral. Prepare detailed underwriting and financial models, including return analyses such as IRR, MOIC, Debt Yield, and other key performance metrics. Conduct credit and risk assessments, including cash flow modeling, sensitivity analyses, and stress testing. Prepare comprehensive credit memoranda and present recommendations to senior management. Partner with originators and asset management to structure transactions that balance borrower needs with credit risk. Support the closing process by coordinating due diligence, third-party reports, and legal documentation. Stay current on market trends, regulations, and industry activity to inform underwriting decisions. Qualifications 5+ years of commercial real estate lending or underwriting experience, with proven exposure to bridge, construction, or transitional loans. Strong financial and credit analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel-based modeling and return calculations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex information. Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Knowledge of industry regulations, compliance requirements, and lending best practices. Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or related field (advanced degree or certifications a plus). Potential Salary: $125,000 - $175,000 annually plus performance bonus
