Position Overview: The Interior Design Drafter plays a critical role in the development of technical documentation for hotel renovation projects. This position is responsible for preparing comprehensive interior and exterior construction drawings, interior design (ID) sets, and FF&E plans that align with brand standards and project requirements. The drafter will work closely with designers, architects, and project managers to translate design intent into accurate, buildable drawing sets used for permitting, bidding, and construction.
Key Responsibilities:Drafting & Documentation - Produce complete interior design (ID) drawing sets, including but not limited to: • Cover Sheet, Overall Reference Plans and Guestroom Type Matrix • Demolition, Construction and Reflected Ceiling (RCP) plans • Interior elevations & sections, enlarged guestroom plans finish & tagged furniture plans • Finish plans and finish schedules • Tagged FF&E Plans and Legends (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) • Millwork & casework plan views, elevations and sections, and transition details • Lighting, Plumbing, Equipment, Door, window, and hardware schedules - Develop exterior renovation drawings, including: • Façade modifications and cladding details • Exterior finish schedules, site plan, key plan, exterior elevations, sections and details • Window and storefront replacement details • Roof plan modifications (when applicable) • Canopy, entryway, and signage drawings Coordination - Collaborate with interior designers to ensure design intent is fully translated into construction documents. - Work with project managers, architects, and consultants to incorporate MEP, structural, and brand-specific requirements into drawing sets. - Assist in reviewing and coordinating shop drawings and submittals during construction. Standards & Quality - Ensure all drawings comply with hotel brand standards and local building codes. - Maintain drawing accuracy, consistency, and organization throughout all project phases (schematic design, design development, and construction documentation). - Support the design team by creating presentation drawings and renderings when needed, while prioritizing technical production.
Qualifications: - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Drafting/Design Technology (or equivalent professional experience). - 2+ years of drafting experience in interior design, architecture, or construction (hospitality experience preferred). - Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit (Revit preferred for full 3D modeling and coordination). Proficiency in Sketchup (Lumion Rendering Software is a plus) - Familiarity with construction detailing, building codes, and ADA requirements. - Strong understanding of ID drawing sets and construction documentation practices. - Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) a plus. - Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. - Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
