We are seeking an experienced
Estimator
to join our team and support the Senior Estimator in preparing accurate cost estimates, assisting with bid submissions, and engaging in subcontractor negotiations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and has significant experience with large-scale public works projects. Staying current on industry trends, building codes, and estimating technologies is key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities Estimator identifies bid opportunities and attend job walks as needed Collaborate with the estimating department and management for timely, complete bid submissions Review contract documents to fully understand scope and requirements Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates using RS Means, OST, PlanSwift (or similar tools), and historical data Analyze subcontractor proposals for accuracy, scope, and pricing Conduct post-bid reviews to identify errors or omissions Transition awarded projects to Project Management, forwarding complete budget documentation to PM and Accounting Research and price unique project elements and materials Build and maintain strong subcontractor/vendor relationships and negotiate pricing Organize Plans & Specs files within company server Support Project Managers with change order documentation Generate budgetary estimates for projects in early design phases
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field 5-10 years of experience as a Project Estimator Demonstrated success bidding public works projects Proficiency in BlueBeam, PlanSwift (or equivalent), and RS Means Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously Strong communication and negotiation skills with subcontractors and vendors Familiarity with various project esitmator delivery methods
Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Project Engineer in public works Experience with LAUSD, County of Los Angeles, or similar local public agencies Reports To:
Senior Estimator, President Salary Range:
