Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Finish Carpenter to support the construction and fit-out of cleanroom environments within a high-tech semiconductor facility in Manassas, VA. This hands-on role focuses on precision carpentry tasks including framing, blocking, architectural trim, door and hardware installation, and cleanroom-specific finish work. The ideal candidate will have experience working in contamination-sensitive environments such as semiconductor, biotech, or aerospace projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleanroom Carpentry & Framing: Install metal or composite framing and blocking to support cleanroom wall systems, utilities, and equipment mounting. Lay out and construct interior partitions, door frames, pass-throughs, and window openings to exact specifications. Assemble and install prefabricated cleanroom wall and ceiling panels, ensuring proper alignment and fit.
Finish Work & Installation: Perform detailed trim carpentry including baseboard, casing, corner guards, and wall protection systems to meet cleanroom standards. Install doors, frames, and hardware in compliance with controlled environment requirements (airlocks, gowning rooms, interlocks, etc.). Support integration of modular architectural systems including coving, cleanroom-rated cabinetry, and wall sealing components.
Jobsite Coordination & Support: Read and interpret construction drawings, shop drawings, and installation guides for cleanroom systems and finishes. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and cleanroom install teams to ensure proper sequencing and alignment of scope. Assist in installing temporary or final supports, signage, or finish protection materials.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to contamination control procedures, PPE requirements, and gowning protocols when working in controlled spaces. Participate in daily safety meetings and follow site-specific procedures, including dust containment and material cleanliness standards. Use hand and power tools safely and maintain clean, organized work areas in accordance with cleanroom construction best practices.
Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in commercial or high-tech finish carpentry — cleanroom, semiconductor, or life science project experience strongly preferred. Proficiency with hand and power tools, blueprint reading, and finish installation techniques. Understanding of cleanroom construction materials, sealing practices, and contamination control protocols. Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders/lifts, and perform precise measurements in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred: Experience with modular cleanroom systems (e.g., Portafab, AES, MECART, etc.) OSHA 10 Construction certification Familiarity with gowning requirements and cleanroom classifications (ISO 5–8) Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
