General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be engaged in these tasks as assigned during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be asked to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in all tasks.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; greet and be professional at all times.
  • Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet Customers and say thank you at checkout.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customers; respond to Service calls immediately; escalate issues to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain store cleanliness and presentation.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor per guidelines and maintain product knowledge to assist Customers.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness and related standards; follow MOS policies and disposition procedures as applicable.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrate integrity in all interactions.
  • Follow cash handling, refunds, and offline procedures with a high degree of accuracy.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effective communication with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, reach, and stoop; lift up to 25 pounds regularly and more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.

The base pay range for this role is $17.87 - $18.37. The range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This is one component of total compensation. Other rewards vary by position and location.
