A hospital in Maryland is seeking a skilled Critical Care Physician Assistant for a 40-day locum tenens assignment starting on 09/01/2025. This role involves providing night shift coverage (7 PM to 7 AM) for 5-10 shifts per month in a mixed medical/surgical ICU and stepdown unit. The ideal candidate should be available for last-minute, sporadic shifts without a set monthly schedule. Responsibilities include managing critically ill patients, performing procedures such as arterial lines, central lines, intubations, and ventilator management. Job Responsibilities and Duties: • Provide critical care coverage in a mixed medical/surgical ICU • Manage patients in the stepdown unit • Perform advanced procedures including arterial lines and central lines • Conduct intubations and manage ventilator settings • Respond to medical emergencies and code situations • Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams • Utilize Cerner electronic health record system for documentation • Adapt to flexible scheduling and last-minute shift assignments • Ensure high-quality patient care and safety in critical care settings • Stay current with best practices in critical care medicine
Additional Information: • Maryland state license is mandatory for this position • Local providers strongly preferred for emergency call-ins • Comfort with ICU procedures and ventilator management is essential • Flexibility for sporadic scheduling without set monthly shifts • Physician Assistants are strongly preferred by the client • Possibility of assignment extension
