$20 – $23 per hour (based on experience)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized
Patient Registrar – Surgical
to join a busy healthcare team in Flushing, NY. This individual will be responsible for patient scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, and front-end administrative functions within a surgical department. A strong background in healthcare registration, attention to detail, and familiarity with EMR systems (preferably EPIC) is essential.
Key Responsibilities: Schedule surgical and procedural appointments accurately and efficiently Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for imaging, surgical procedures, and medications Obtain prior authorizations for imaging and medications as required Perform accurate data entry and maintain up-to-date patient records in the EMR system Work closely with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve any coverage or authorization issues Maintain high standards of confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations Provide professional, courteous, and empathetic customer service to patients and families Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure optimal patient experience and workflow
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED
(Required) Minimum of 4 years of experience in a healthcare administrative or patient registration role
(Required) Prior experience scheduling procedures and obtaining prior authorizations for imaging and medications
(Required) Experience with insurance verification and benefits eligibility
(Required) Experience using EPIC or similar Electronic Medical Record systems
(Preferred) Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask and remain detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
