A leading international construction firm working on one of the largest infrastructure projects in Chicago is seeking a
Senior Subcontract Manager
to support its legal and technical teams. This role involves strategic contract oversight, risk management, and collaboration with engineering and project delivery teams to ensure agreements are both legally sound and operationally effective. This is a high-impact position-not a back-office role. You'll be expected to engage critically with contract terms, support joint venture coordination, and contribute to the success of a multi-billion-dollar transit expansion project.
Key Responsibilities Serve as the legal expert for subcontract and JV contract management Support contract administration including letters, claims, change orders, and invoice review Assist in Engineering Support During Construction (ESDC) coordination with internal and client teams Collaborate with technical managers and external stakeholders Provide input on risk mitigation and compliance strategies Contribute to post-acquisition integration and governance matters
Ideal Background Legal degree or Master's in Civil Engineering Minimum 5 years of experience in contract administration with designers and subcontractors Experience in design-build and joint venture construction projects Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills Commercial awareness and ability to interpret broader business issues Fluent in English; valid driver's license Ability to work in a multicultural environment preferred
